The educational objectives  of the degree programs determined by taking into account the duties and responsibilities of the Department of Horticulture are listed below.
Undergraduate Program Educational Objectives
  • In education, the aim is to train agricultural engineers who are environmentally sensitive, committed to sustainable agriculture principles, and who have the ability to access and synthesize information on production and cultivation.In terms of scientific research, it is to carry out basic research that has integrated with the field, will contribute to regional problems and development, and prioritizes innovations.
  • In the field of horticulture, it is aimed to be a department that exhibits approaches that are sensitive to the problems of our region, region and country as well as universal problems, trains technical staff that are accepted nationally and internationally with the education it provides, and is recognized internationally with its research.
  • To train agricultural engineers who are sensitive to the natural environment, society and people, who understand the importance of their profession for society, who have basic knowledge and application skills for the sector, who perceive the importance of lifelong learning, and therefore can follow and apply scientific and technological developments in the field of agriculture, who provide sound information to the sector/producers of the region and country, and who adopt a scientific way of thinking and working for the welfare of humanity.
Master's Program Educational Objectives
  • To train agricultural engineers who acquire the ability to examine, develop and produce horticultural crops whose cultivation is considered commercially important in terms of morphology, physiology, anatomy and biotechnology using scientific methods,
  • To solve the current problems encountered in the cultivation of horticultural crops, and to improve product quality and yield by taking into account the developing agricultural technologies with global climate change,
  • To be preferred by the public and private sectors due to the knowledge, skills, competence, basic values ​​and professional equipment gained in theoretical and practical aspects during their postgraduate education,
  • To adopt ethical values ​​in their working lives, to be sensitive to environmental and social problems and to produce solutions.
Doctoral Program Educational Objectives
  • To educate agricultural engineers who are PhD graduates who plan to solve the current problems encountered in the process of growing horticultural products, which constitute an important part of agricultural production, and who carry out research and development activities to improve product quality and yield, and who can develop, execute, supervise projects accordingly, and who can analyze the obtained data and transfer them to stakeholders,
  • To be preferred by the public and private sectors due to the knowledge, skills, competence, basic values ​​and professional equipment that graduates gain from theoretical and practical aspects during their postgraduate education,  To provide graduates with the ability to work and communicate by establishing interdisciplinary relationships outside their own areas of expertise,
  • To monitor agricultural production and research processes in the fields of agricultural technology that develop with the changing climate at the global level, who are open to development, inquisitive, entrepreneurial, have contemporary qualities, and believe in teamwork and have the ability to plan accordingly,
  • To train agricultural engineers who have adopted ethical values ​​as a principle in their professional life, who are sensitive to environmental and social problems and who are engaged in solution-producing activities.
